Kep is not a destination built around major sights. Its appeal comes from the coast, the greenery and the simple rhythm of a small seaside town.

Spend the morning walking through Kep National Park, stop for seafood at the Crab Market and leave the afternoon free by the water. The coast here is quieter than Cambodia’s larger beach destinations, with fishing boats offshore and small roads winding between gardens, villas and forested hills.

Best Time to Visit Kep

November to April generally brings drier weather and is the most comfortable period for outdoor activities and time by the coast.

May to October is greener and quieter, with more frequent tropical rain.

 

How Long to Stay

For most travelers, one to two nights is enough.

One night works well when Kep is combined with Kampot, while two nights allows more time for the national park, seafood and a relaxed day by the coast.

 

Where to Stay

Kep has a small selection of boutique hotels and peaceful resorts, many set among gardens or on the hills above the coast.

We generally prefer properties with a quiet setting and easy access to the waterfront rather than staying purely for proximity to the town center.
