Today, we begin our journey to Ha Giang, the northernmost province of Vietnam, renowned for its majestic mountain landscapes and cultural richness. This remote area is home to over 20 ethnic minority groups, each with distinct traditions that have been preserved for generations.
8:00 AM: Our guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel in Hanoi. We then embark on a scenic drive to Ha Giang, a province that shares a 275 km-long border with China. Along the way, you’ll be captivated by dramatic limestone formations and rugged peaks.
Stop for lunch at a local restaurant in Tuyen Quang.
After lunch, we continue our drive to Ha Giang city for a short coffee break, then proceed to Quan Ba Heaven Gate. Here, you’ll enjoy a short hike uphill to marvel at panoramic views over Quan Ba town, take photos of the iconic Twin Mountains, and hear the intriguing legend behind the Happiness Road.
We continue to Nam Dam Village, a peaceful and authentic village inhabited by the Dao ethnic group. Nestled in a tranquil valley, the village offers a warm welcome from the locals who still preserve their traditional way of life.
Spend the rest of the afternoon walking around the village at your leisure.
Dinner will be served at a local homestay, where you’ll experience authentic Dao cuisine and hospitality.

After breakfast, we depart Nam Dam and begin our scenic journey through the captivating Yen Minh Pass, where the winding roads reveal breathtaking views of limestone mountains and deep valleys, a perfect opportunity for stunning photography.
We stop at the Pho Cao Pass (Tham Ma Pass) to capture iconic shots of the Happiness Road, a symbol of resilience and unity among the local ethnic communities.
Continue to Lung Cam Cultural Village, where you will visit the house featured in “The Story of Pao”, a critically acclaimed Vietnamese film that won four Golden Kite Awards (Vietnam’s version of the Oscars). The village is an authentic slice of Hmong culture and architecture.
Next, we visit the Vuong Family Palace, also known as the Hmong King’s Palace. This unique structure showcases a blend of Chinese, French, and Hmong architecture, offering insight into the region’s rich cultural and political history.
After lunch at a local restaurant, we head north to visit the Lung Cu Flag Tower, marking the northernmost point of Vietnam. Climbing the tower offers a spectacular panoramic view over terraced fields and neighboring China.
We then continue to Dong Van, arriving in the late afternoon. After check-in at your hotel, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.
In the evening, take a stroll through Dong Van Old Quarter, where you’ll discover charming stone houses, quiet alleyways, and remnants of a colonial past.

After an early breakfast and hotel check-out, we depart Dong Van at 7:30 AM for one of the most spectacular drives in Vietnam, the legendary Ma Pi Leng Pass, a masterpiece of mountain engineering and part of the famed Happiness Road.
We visit the Happiness Road Museum, which shares the moving story of the road’s construction by thousands of young volunteers in the 1960s, before taking a short walk to the top of Ma Pi Leng Pass for panoramic views of the deep valleys and rugged limestone peaks.
We continue driving along the Happiness Road, stopping en route for scenic photos and a coffee break.
A highlight of today is the journey to the Nho Que River, one of the most beautiful rivers in Vietnam. Flowing for 192 km (with 46 km running through Vietnam), the emerald-green Nho Que River winds through steep limestone cliffs and is framed by the majestic Dong Van Karst Plateau. The river remains vividly turquoise nearly all year round, especially outside of the rainy season (April to September).
Upon arrival, we take a motorbike ride (xe ôm) to reach the boat pier.
Enjoy a 1-hour boat trip along the Nho Que River to explore the stunning Tu San Canyon — known as one of the deepest canyons in Southeast Asia — a dramatic natural wonder carved over millennia.
After the boat trip, we return by motorbike to reunite with our vehicle, then continue our drive to Hoang Su Phi , a remote and breathtaking district famed for its magnificent terraced rice fields and ethnic diversity.
Dinner and overnight at Hoang Su Phi Lodge, a charming ecolodge nestled amid nature.
Wake up early to enjoy the magical cloud-hunting experience and capture stunning photos of Hoang Su Phi’s rice terraces bathed in the morning mist, one of the most iconic landscapes in northern Vietnam. Return to the lodge for breakfast.
After breakfast, we depart Hoang Su Phi for a scenic drive toward Sapa. En route, stop at Bac Ha Town, home to the Flower H’Mong ethnic group.
Here, you will visit the H’Mong King’s Palace, a historic structure with unique architecture that reflects the cultural richness of the region.
(Note: If your visit falls on a Sunday, you’ll have the opportunity to experience the vibrant and colorful Bac Ha Sunday Market, one of the most authentic ethnic markets in Vietnam.)
Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before continuing your journey through winding mountain roads toward Sapa, the famous “city in the clouds.”
Upon arrival in Sapa, check in at your hotel. The evening is free for you to explore the charming town, with its bustling night markets and cool mountain air.
This morning, embark on an exciting journey to conquer the “Roof of Indochina” – Mount Fansipan (3,143m above sea level), the highest peak in Vietnam. You will take a short train ride to the cable car station, followed by a breathtaking cable car journey offering panoramic views of the Hoang Lien Son Mountain range. Weather permitting, you’ll be rewarded with spectacular views from the summit.
After descending, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, drive along the stunning Muong Hoa Valley, home to some of the most picturesque rice terraces in the world. You’ll begin a gentle trek from Lao Chai to Ta Van Village, passing through the peaceful countryside and visiting homes of the Black H’Mong and Dzay ethnic minorities. This is a wonderful opportunity to experience local life, culture, and traditional architecture.
In the late afternoon, check in at a cozy bungalow in Lao Chai village, nestled amid the rice terraces, the perfect setting for a tranquil evening in nature.
After breakfast, enjoy a final scenic drive through the enchanting Muong Hoa Valley, with opportunities to stop and visit more local villages, capturing the last glimpses of Sapa’s breathtaking landscapes and vibrant ethnic culture.
After lunch at a local restaurant, depart for Hanoi via the expressway.
