After breakfast, depart from Vientiane and journey north to Vang Vieng, a charming town nestled beside the Nam Song River, surrounded by breathtaking limestone karst landscapes.
En route, stop to explore Vang Xang, an 11th-century Buddhist archaeological site where ancient Buddha images are delicately carved into the cliffside. Continue the drive with a visit to the Fish Market in Huay Mor, offering insight into the local way of life, and Chang Cave, a natural cavern that once served as a bunker during invasions by marauding Chinese forces in the early 19th century.
Arrive in Vang Vieng and check in at your hotel. Enjoy the rest of the evening at leisure.

This morning, visit Xang Cave, also known as the Elephant Cave, named for its elephant-shaped stalactites. The cave also houses several Buddha images and a sacred Buddha footprint. In the afternoon, travel by road to Luang Prabang, a city surrounded by forested mountains and located at the confluence of the Khan and Mekong Rivers. Nestled between the Nam Khan and Nam Ou rivers, Luang Prabang is an enchanting town renowned for its serene atmosphere, historic temples, and elegant French colonial architecture.
Begin the day with a visit to Wat Visoun (Wat Wisunalat), the oldest living temple in Luang Prabang, originally built in 1513. It houses a unique collection of antique wooden Buddha images. Just nearby is Wat Aham, a small but historically significant temple.
Continue to the magnificent Wat Xieng Thong, often regarded as the crowning jewel of Luang Prabang’s temples. This monastery is famous for its richly decorated architecture, intricate gold stenciling, and a stunning “Tree of Life” mosaic.
